You could say that my love of film began on that summery day in August when I was born some 23 years ago. I was my family's first girl and my mom going into labor ended up halting my brother's plans to go to Raging Waters that day. He still blames me for that to this day but I digress. After all of the drama and excitement, my mom and I had our moment alone. I was cradled in her arms and we were watching "The Dirty Dozen" in her hospital room.
Ever since then, movies have been a big part of my life I've come to find out. I know this because I quote movies and a regular basis. Whether it's getting my vaccines as a kid when I yelled "you dirty rag!" at the nurse giving me a shot which is a quote from " The Brave Little Toaster" or looking at my roommate at 6am and saying "Man, you look like I feel" and the banter from "Aliens" ensues. This blog might seem like fun and games initially, but what ultimately got me to writing it is that movies are carrying more weight for me now.
I have one film class under my belt and I am in another one right now and I see that there is so much more to know. I am starting to realize that film is becoming more of an art for me rather than simple entertainment. Some films make me wonder about what was happening at the time the movie was released or why some wide angle shots are used. However, I don't watch movies just to analyze them and try to figure out every minute detail. I do enjoy a good story and let's face it, movies are really fun! I'm inviting you, dear reader, to share your opinions and favorite movie quotes with me :)
